This question may shock a great many people, but is Christianity idolatry?  Are Christians idolators?  Are the God and Yeshua (Jesus) of Christianity the same ones that are described in the Bible, or are they gods that Christianity created in their own likeness?  These are questions I want to consider in this blog’s article.

What is “Idolatry”?

Idolatry is anytime you have someone or something else as the top priority in your life other than the God of Isra’el.  Whatever you spend most of your time and energy doing, rather than serving the God of Isra’el, has become an idol in your life.  For most people, they have become their own idol.

God’s Commandments Against Idolatry

The second commandment that is given in the Ten Commandments is against the sin of idolatry.  The God of Isra’el commands both Israelites and Gentiles (non-Jews):

You shall have no other gods before Me.  You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.  You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous [passionate] God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. (Exodus 20: 3-6)

Does Christianity’s description of God match the one given throughout the Tanakh (aka, “Old Testament”)?  It doesn’t, in the fact, that the God described in the Tanakh (“Old Testament”) claims to be holy, punishes sin, and judges righteously, but He also claims 45 times that His commandments will last as long as the heavens and the earth, whom He calls as witnesses against all of those who were at the bottom of Mt. Sinai – both Israelites and Gentiles (non-Jews), who came out with the Israelites from Egypt.

Rather than the commandments continuing until there was no longer any heavens or earth, Christianity claims that the commandments given to Moses on Mt. Sinai came to an end when “Jesus” died on the cross.  This is pictured, they claim, when the Temple Veil was ripped in two inside the Temple when “Jesus” died.  However, there is not one example anywhere in the Bible where the tearing of cloth brings any commandment to an end.  Instead, the tearing of cloth is repeatedly used as a symbol of mourning.  Consequently, to teach that the tearing of the Temple Veil indicates that the commandments of God were brought to an end is “perverse,” since it “twists” and “distorts” the Scriptures to mean something that they do not even teach, but this is an example of what Christianity has done to the Scriptures since its very beginning near its start of the second century, C.E.  Christianity has, indeed, violated this commandment against idolatry, because they have created gods of their own making, who are in agreement with their “perverse” ways.  Yes, they may call them “God” and “Jesus,” but they are not the same ones that we find described within the Bible.  They have remade the God of Isra’el into their own image.

“Freedom from the Law” – The Central Doctrine of Ba’al?

The central doctrine of Ba’al is “Freedom from the Law of YHWH.”  I have heard Christian pastors, Bible teachers, and evangelists openly pronounce and rejoice in this same teaching.  I have heard them say, “Thank God, He has freed us from the legalism and bondage of the Law!”  These people have been greatly deceived, and at the same time, their teachings against God’s commandments have greatly offended the God of Isra’el!  If you study the lifestyles of those who worshipped Ba’al, you will find that they committed all kinds of sexual sins associated with his teachings, and we see many of these same sins in Christianity today, even among many of the religious leaders! Fornication, Prostitution, Adultery, Homosexuality, etc., being done by those who say they are “Christians.”  There are even those who claim to be “Christian witches!”  Christians claim that “freedom from God’s laws” is what the New Testament teaches, but they are wrong.  I have closely researched and studied every argument Christianity has for the end of the commandments, and each one of them when they are placed back into their proper contexts have more “holes” than “a speghetti strainer.”  Paul does not at all teach these doctrines of Ba’al, but these people, not understanding the proper framework and context for the “New Testament Scriptures” have been completely deceived into believing these lies from the Adversary.

Yeshua (Jesus) did not save us from God’s Law, but from the laws of sin and death.  These are not the same thing, but are very different things.  But Christians have been deceived into rejecting the commandments that the God of Isra’el handed down to Mosheh (Moses) on Mt. Sinai, and by doing so, they have unknowingly opened themselves up to the Spirit of Ba’al, and churches have also unknowingly opened their doors open to this idolatrous Spirit as well.  They have opened their doors to this Spirit so much, in fact, that today, people cannot tell the difference between the lifestyle of most Christians and most nonbelievers who have rejected God and Yeshua (Jesus).  This is what national surveys and statistics have shown for several years now.  I have also heard for several years, Christians say to me, “There is no difference between us and anyone else.  The only difference is that we are forgiven.”  This is how deceived they have really become.

Paul’s Ignored Warning!

Paul saw this coming, and he warned the Gentile (non-Jewish) believers of his day and time.  His warning to them is recorded in the “New Testament.”  He said,

I know that after my departure [death] savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking PERVERSE things, to draw away the disciples after them.  Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears. (Acts 20:29-31)

The word translated “perverse” is the Greek word diastrepho [G1294], which means “to distort, i.e., (fig.) to misinterpret” and “to turn away.”  In fact, Christianity was birthed in “perversions,” for it believed that the destruction of Jerusalem and the Holy Temple were signs that God had turned His back on His One and Only Bride, Isra’el, and that He had “replaced” her with another bride, “the church.”  And to reaffirm this “perverse” idea, they taught, and continue to teach, that what they call the “New Testament” (representing Christianity, they claimed) has “REPLACED,” “DID AWAY WITH,” “ANNULLED,” or even “SUPERSEDED” what they call the “Old Testament,” which they claimed represents Israel.

The “Perverse” Teachings of Christianity

Mainstream Christianity has turned people away from obedience to God’s commandments, and in so doing, they have been speaking “PERVERSE things,” in fulfillment to what Paul has warned.  We can see a similar warning given by Shi’mon Petros (Simon Peter) in his epistle.  He writes,

and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which THE UNTAUGHT (UNLEARNED) AND UNSTABLE DISTORT, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. (2 Peter 3:15-16)

And who are the “untaught” or “unlearned”?  They who are “Untaught” or “Unlearned” are those who have not been instructed in the Written Law of God.  The “Unstable” are those who go back-and-forth on their thoughts and beliefs about God and His Word.  When things go well, they are pro-God and His Word, but when things go bad, then they suddenly doubt whether He even exists.  This describes most Christians in the church today.

#1 “Perverseness” – “The Law” Ended at the Cross

As I mentioned, Christianity claims that the commandments given to Moses on Mt. Sinai came to an end when “Jesus” died on the cross.  This is “perverse,” because this is a “twisting” and “distortion” of what Paul teaches in the “New Testament.”  For example, in the book of Romans, we read,

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness for every one who believes. (Romans 10:4)

And Christians say, “See, it says right there that ‘Christ is the end of the law.”  However, this is just an example of how the English has been mistranslated.  There are a number of these in the “New Testament.”  The word “end” here does not mean “to terminate,” as Christians claim, but it is the Greek word telos [G5056], and it means “goal,” “aim,” or “result.”  So this verse could be translated as —

  • For Christ is the goal of the law for righteousness for everyone who believes.
  • For Christ is the aim of the law for righteousness for everyone who believes.
  • For Christ is the result of the law for righteousness for everyone who believes.

Christ being the goal or aim of the Law means that as we study the commandments and teachings within the Law, or Torah, then we should do so with Christ in view.  It should be that the more like Christ we become, the more obedient to the Torah we become, and the more obedient to the Torah we become, the more like Christ we become.  As we can see, this does not mean anything close to what Christians say that this means.  Of that, I am throroughly convinced.  As I said, God stated 45 times in the first five books that His commandments were eternal.  Therefore, the very idea that God would go against His own word and do the exact opposite is ludricous!  There is just no way!

Instead, God promised that His commandments were eternal. There is not one prophecy given in the Tanakh (aka, “Old Testament”) where He promises to get rid of His commandments for His people. Instead, He prophesied through the ancient prophet Amos,

Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets. (Amos 3:7)

Every detail of the Messiah’s life has been given in the Tanakh (aka, “Old Testament”), but not one prophecy has been given to indicate that He is going to “liberate” His people from “the Law”?  The only promise about “the Law” has been recorded by the prophet Isaiah:

The LORD was pleased for His righteousness’ sake to make the Law (His Torah) great and glorious. (Isaiah 42:21)

There is not one prophecy given in the Tanakh (aka, “Old Testament”) where He promises to get rid of His commandments for His people, except in punishment.  For example, the prophet Hosea writes,

I will also put an end to all her [Israel’s] gaity.  Her feasts, her new moons, her sabbaths, and all ger festal assemblies. (Hosea 2:11)

This is not stated to bless them – but to CURSE them, as part of their punishment.  So for anyone to praise God for being without His commandments only demonstrates the deception – the “perverseness” – of their thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs.

#2 “Perverseness” – Christianity’s Celebration of Pagan Days

And then in the book of Deuteronomy, God says,

Take heed to youself that you are not snared by following them, after that they are destroyed from before you; and that you inquire not after their gods, saying, “How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.  You shall not do so unto the LORD your God: for every abomination to the LORD, which He hates, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.  What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it.  (Deuteronomy 12:30-32)

Christianity contnues to teach this “perversions” all around the world.  For example, they celebrate holidays – not given to them by the God of Isra’el – but ones that they, themselves, have taken from the pagan world.  Some of them have been “Christianized,” but that does not change the fact that these days are of pagan roots and origins: Halloween, Christmas (i.e., the Roman Saturnalia), where we get the “12 days of Christmas,” and the birthday of the sun god, Mithra, December 25.  I have even seen an editorial that was written by a pagan who asked Christians that they wanted their holidays back.  Christians, however, deceive themselves into believing that by celebrating these pagan days that they can in some way “sanctify them” for God.  The only thing that they are doing is profaning the name of the God of Isra’el and the name of His Messiah, Yeshua (Joshua/Jesus).

God Commands – Do Not Follow the Ways of the Pagans!

But in spite of this, Christianity contnues to teach its perversions about God’s commandments all around the world.  For example, they celebrate holidays – not given to them by the God of Isra’el – and they have even done away with God’s instructions about what they should eat and what they should not eat.  All of these things are based on their misinterpretation and misunderstanding of their own Scriptures.

#3 “Perversion” –  “The End Justifies the Means”

This brings me to another “perverse” idea that they teach: “the end justifies the means.”  They believe that if someone “gets saved” that this “justifies” the evil sins that they have been involved in – like the pagan holidays – to make this happen.  However, the God of the Bible is a Holy God.  Eveything with Him must be Holy:  “The end” and “the means.”  If they are not both holy, then He is not in any part of it.  They may have “saved” the person, but it was to their version of what they think “God” and “Jesus” are like, not to the true historical ones of the Scriptures.

For example, their “Jesus,” unlike the biblical one, supports people changing the Sabbath, not following the dietary laws, and apparently believes that the commandments handed down by the God of Isra’el is “bondage,” “legalism,” and even “death.”  This is the complete opposite of what is taught and lived by the biblical “Jesus.”  We even have so-called “Christians” who commit fornification by “living together,” instead of getting married; committing homosexual acts; and they go around saying that “they can’t help but sin everyday.”  And they believe the “perverse” doctrine that “Jesus lived as their substitute and identified with them in his death,” so that now they don’t have to obey God’s commandments since He “fulfilled them,” and also everytime God looks at them, He does not see them in all of their sins, but He only sees “Jesus.”  This is not true.  Again, these people are deceived.  The truth is that Yeshua (Jesus) lived as our example of how we are to live out the commandments of God in our lives, so that by watching Him, we would know that the commandments could be kept and lived out, and He was our substitute in His death as our SIN OFFERING.  He did not, as they claim, become SIN for anyone on the cross as He died.  He did not become an idolater, a blasphemer, a homosexual, a thief, a murderer, an adulterer, or any other sinner while hanging on that cross.  He paid the penalty of our SINS which was DEATH.  If He had to identify with our experiences to redeem us from them, then He apparently cannot heal any broken bones since “none of His bones were broken.”  That whole idea that Yeshua (Joshua/Jesus) had to become sin to redeem us from sin is a widely accepted “perverse” doctrine from the very pit of Hell.

#4 “Perversion” – God Expects Us to Keep the Law Perfectly

This is another “perverse” teaching of Christianity. There is not one verse given in the the whole Tanakh (aka, “Old Testament”) where God requires “perfection” from any human being. If God expected “perfection,” as Christians wrongly argue, He would not have allowed for divorce, for a make-up day, just in case they miss the Passover, nor would He have allowed for the cities of refuge in case they accidentally killed someone, and the biggest evidence that God did not expect perfection is the whole sacrificial system.  But it is only through their “perverse” understanding for the purpose of God’s Law that they can understand why Yeshua (Joshua/Jesus) had to die.

#5 “Perversion” – Christianity’s Understanding of ‘the Gospel'”

Yeshua (Joshua/Jesus) came to announce that God was about to begin the Restoration of Israel, in that He was about to reach into the world, and He was going to begin bringing back the descendants of the Northern Kingdom, as well as those Gentiles who chose to attach themselves to Isra’el.  This is why He called the Pharisee Sha’ul Paulus (Paul) to do.  It was NOT to go out and begin a whole new religion, called “Christianity.”  This was “the gospel of the Kingdom” that John the Baptizer, and that Yeshua (Joshua/Jesus) and His eighty-two disciples (the Twelve and the Seventy, Lue 10:1) spent a total of about four (4) years proclaiming and teaching throughout the land of Isra’el.

His crucifixion laid the foundation so that the Restoration could happen.  And since it was their idolatry, sin, and abominations that ultimately trace back to the sin, which Adam and Chavah (trans. “Eve”) brought into the world through their breaking of their one and only commandment, then this is why Adam’s sin is discussed within the book of Romans.  But mainly it was to keep the covenantal promise that God made with Abraham, which according to the book of Galatians, it is with Abraham that the gospel actually begins.

Therefore, Yeshua (Joshua/Jesus) was not sent by God to live in obedience to the Torah of Mosheh (Moses) and then to die the cruel death of crucifixion by the Romans, only so people could continue living their same sinful lives, but with the deception that in spite of their sinful living, they would be allowed to go to heaven when they died.  The God of Isra’el is holy, and only those who seek to live in holiness and obedience to the commandments of God from their heart will be allowed to enter into the presence of God.   As I said, Yeshua’s death on the cross opened the way, so that we could then develop a relationship with God.  Asking him to forgive us opens the way, but then we need to pick up our own cross and follow Him in obeying the commandments of God, all the way to the finish line of our deaths.

It’s Time to Repent and to Return to the Scriptures!

It is time we come back to the truth of the One True God and to ALL of His Holy Scriptures.  We nned to be “Whole Bible Believers in these days of deception!”  The “New Testament” has not, in any way, taken the place of the Holy Scriptures, who Christians have been deceived into calling the “Old Testament.”  Instead, the writings of the early disciples are supplemental to the Holy Scriptures, that develop and elaborate upon portions of the Tanakh (aka, “Old Testament”), but they have NOT REPLACED them or taken their place.
