Rather than posting another teaching as I have been doing now for a few years, I wanted to have a sit-down chat with you about things going on in the lives of my wife, Karen and I, and things the Lord has been sharing with us.
Since Karen and I began this ministry, we have really been amazed at how this ministry has grown by leaps and bounds. This page has not only reached people in the United States, but in many other countries around the world, and we have been so humbled by your commitment to us and to our teachings.
This COVID-19 pandemic that we have all been dealing with has been a great challenge to everyone around the world, but the Lord has been sharing with us that He has allowed this to happen, because He has been trying to get people to turn to Him. However, they have not been listening. As a result, He has had to up the level of crisis, hoping that this would finally move them to turn to Him. It has worked to a small degree, but not nearly as much as the Lord wants.
He is extremely concerned because the time period prophesied in the Scriptures, called the tribulation, He says is right around the corner, but so, He says, is His return. Therefore, time is running out for those people who have not committed themselves to Him and to His Word. But we also know from the Lord and from the Scriptures that there is coming “a great falling away” from the church. There are many in the American church who believe that this “falling away” has already begun, but according to the Lord, it really hasn’t.
There are many in the church already, He says, who are betraying Him by not studying His Word and keeping His commandments. They have replace their own ways for His, and this “religious belief and mentality” that they have developed that they have the right to pick and choose what they want to believe, and still make it to heaven, in spite of them disobeying the Word of God is setting them up for the time of the Anti-Christ.
For when the Anti-Christ comes soon, and the mark of the Beast comes, there are many people in the church today who Jesus has told us is going to betray Him and accept the mark so that they will be able to survive. But in taking the mark, they will also condemn themselves to an eternity in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone.
Therefore, He has laid on our hearts to begin a ministry and outreach to the Christian church around the world. It is a name and logo that God has resurrected in my life. When I was in my mid-teens, I wrote a song, called “Flickering Light,” and in high school, me and three of my friends began a Christian band, and we named the band after the song. The logo for the band is the same one I am now using for this new ministry: Flickering Light Ministries. The chorus of the song was the following:
Christians are the flickering lights, /
They shine their lights in a dark and forgotten world, /
They lead the world into the Light, /
and they reflect the One, the One and Only Light, /
Jesus, Jesus Christ.
And as these words, which were given to me by the Lord 43 years ago, say, as Christians we are to be reflecting Christ into the world and drawing them to Him, but instead, what we see in the United States, Christianity has gone the way of Lot. The more “sinner friendly” it has made itself, the closer to the world it has become, until today, according to numerous studies and research, the distinction between Christians and non-Christians (those who reject Christ) have all but disappeared. Just as Lot made himself a part of Sodom, so the American church has made itself a part of the world.
And the Lord wants us to reach out to the Christian church with the truth of the whole Bible perspective and understanding, and that God has not changed, and His Laws have not changed. His laws are for all people, Jew and non-Jew (or Christian) alike. And just like it is written in Hebrews, “without holiness, no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14).
And like Paul wrote in Romans 6, salvation is a process that begins with our obedience, not only to the gospel, but also to God and His Word, including His commandments. In Romans 6, Paul says we can make a choice, either obeying sin, which leads to death, or obedience which results in righteousness (Romans 6:16). But he doesn’t there, As we yield our members to righteousness, it results in holiness (Romans 6:19). And then Paul then ends this process by saying,
But now being made free from sin, and becomes servants to God, you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end [result] everlasting life. (Romans 6:22)
So if we summarize this three phase process, we have obedience to God leads to righteousness, righteousness leads to holiness, and holiness results in eternal life. Paul then presents a general overall statement in the next verse that most people quote, but then negate the previous processes:
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
Therefore, those who claim to believe in Paul are oftentimes, misrepresenting him and his teachings, because they pick and choose from his teachings, while negating the rest. For example, although we are to minister to the world and the unsaved, we are not to live like them, sharing in the same values and beliefs as them.
But we are to be “holy,” which means “to be distinct,” “separate,” “other than” the world and its systems of thinking and living. For example, Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 6,
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial [devil or anti-Christ], or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,
“I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord. “And do not touch what is unclean; and I will welcome you. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” says the Lord Almighty.
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, LET US CLEANSE OURSELVES from all defilement of flesh and spirit, PERFECTING HOLINESS in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; Emphasis Mine)
Now if righteousness and holiness are unattainable as many in the dominant American church believe, then these teachings of Paul regarding “righteousness” and “holiness” make absolutely no sense at all. But the truth is that in and through Christ, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, righteousness and holiness are both attainable and what God expects of His people. And if we are not striving after holiness in how we live our lives, then we are not living the life that God has called us to live, nor are we providing Him, who is Holy, with a Temple suitable for Him to dwell in and live.
And in the Scriptures, there are two things that make us distinct from all other people in the world: (1) God’s Presence in our lives; and (2) our obedience to His commandments. These two things set us apart and identify us, according to God, as His people.
And so God has called us to bring His people back to Him, His Kingdom, and the whole Word of God, and this is the calling that God has placed on my wife, Karen, and I. I want to invite you to check out our new ministry site at Flickeringlight.org, and our FaceBook page at http://www.facebook.com/flickeringlight.org.
I am working on the paperwork, because we are wanting to make this new ministry a non-profit, and ultimately, we will need to form a board to oversee the ministry as well. It has been a while since I have posted anything here, and I wanted you to know what has been going on in our lives and in our hearts. If you have any feedback or ideas that will help us reach out to more people in the church and around the world, we would love to hear from you.
I wanted you to know that I have not forgotten you, nor do I see any of you as being unimportant, but I am also working on a book about the Kingdom: Kingdom Call, Kingdom Life, Kingdom Mission, and Kingdom Destiny. So the Lord has been keeping me busy, but we covet your prayers, as we are continuing to move forward in what the Lord is directing us to do. I will not delete this website, but my plans right now is to keep it going until about February of next year. This gives me time to move things from one site to another, and for you to check things out.
Again, I hope that you will continue to support us and this new direction that God is calling us to do.
And as Paul would have written in his native Hebrew tongue,
(Peace and grace)
